Boca Prep Performance Program
Soccer Academy - Your Questions Answered
What is our Performance Program?
This is a specialist program designed to enable school aged student athletes to achieve the highest level of performance in their chosen sport or a performing art, whilst remaining in a traditional school environment to ensure the optimum academic development and top qualifications. We offer all programs of the International Baccalaureate, and an outstanding education for life and a great opportunity to gain college scholarships.
What areas of performance are considered?
With years of experience we provide student athletes the opportunity to put in the hours of training necessary to achieve elite levels of performance. Andy Roddick and Jozy Altidore are two former students. The school works with Team Boca, the Evert Tennis Academy, the Don Law Golf Academy and private coaches supporting individually constructed programs.
What about Academics?
Boca Prep is an IB World School and we require all students to be fully engaged and successful in their academic program. We offer the IB Diploma in grades 11 and 12 and in preparation for this, students follow the IB primary and middle years programs. Students can graduate with the IB Diploma, follow single subject IB Certificate Courses or graduate with normal high school credits.
What about Soccer?
Boca Prep is now a major sponsor of Team Boca and with the appointment of Scott Baker and Michael Araujo, who will coach the girls and boys respectively, we will be working closely with all Team Boca coaches. The new Soccer Academy will open with carefully selected players in August 2011 enrolling boys and girls from Grade 6 to Grade 12.
Is the Soccer Program for me?
We are looking for positive, energetic student athletes, committed academically and willing to work hard on and off the soccer field to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills. As an international school we want open minded individuals who are willing to learn from and work with others from all over the World. Any student in grade 6 or above who wants to play soccer at the highest level can apply for a place. Selection will be based on an assessment of your skill level, fitness and commitment to the sport, an interview and an assessment of your academic engagement and potential. The training program is in two levels: Grades 6-8 and grades 9-12, girls and boys will train separately.
What will the daily schedule be?
Students will train for 2 hours every morning as part of the regular school curriculum. High School students (Grades 9-12) will train from 8 -10 am and then follow their academic program. Middle School students (Grades 6-8) will train from 10 am -12 pm daily. Students are encouraged to register with Team Boca to ensure integrity of training.
What will it cost?
Boca Prep is an independent private College Preparatory School offering the best available academic programs and top levels of coaching. Tuition and coaching fees reflect the high quality of these programs. Scholarship support is available and applicants are advised to contact the school to find out about the selection process.
